Connecting with Makers
Connecting with Makers
Building meaningful connections is key to success as a maker. Learn how to effectively connect with other builders on MakersFuel.
The Connection System
How It Works

MakersFuel uses a mutual connection model:
- You send a connection request (optionally include a message)
- They accept (or decline)
- Once accepted, you're mutually connected
- Both can now message each other
Why Mutual Connections?
| Benefit | Description |
|---|---|
| Reduces spam | No unwanted messages |
| Mutual interest | Both parties want to connect |
| Meaningful relationships | Quality over quantity |
| Privacy protection | Control who contacts you |
Connection States
| State | Description |
|---|---|
| Not Connected | No relationship — can send a request |
| Pending | Request sent, waiting for response |
| Connected | Mutual connection established |
| Blocked | Connection blocked — cannot interact |

Including a Message
When sending a connection request, you can include an optional message to introduce yourself and explain why you'd like to connect. A personalized message significantly increases acceptance rates.
Best Practices
| Do | Impact |
|---|---|
| Review their profile first | Shows genuine interest |
| Include a message with your request | Higher acceptance rate |
| Find common ground | Shared skills, interests, goals |
| Be selective | Quality over quantity |
| Check availability | Respect "Limited" or "Not Available" |
